We spent the day in the Cascades above Darrington, north of the Mountain Loop Highway where we spent so much time when we were younger. We don't backpack anymore, but any excuse to get into the mountains... we're there. We'd intended to squeeze a long weekend out of the little time left before leaving on vacation, but car trouble nixed that plan. But we did get a long, beautiful day in the mountains, and that was enough for now.
We have similar happy places. There’s nothing quite the the fresh air and serenity of being in the woods. It is one of the reasons that I live where I do! So glad you got a day to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWe are not backpackers or serious hikers, but enjoy chances to get out and walk in the woods. Despite your car troubles, it sounds and looked like your day was a good one.
ReplyDeleteWe have never backpacked, but do enjoy walks, not long hikes, in the woods and preferable on trails as we are not off roaders by amy means, foot or vehicle.
